Pediatric Reading & Literacy Support
Pediatric reading and literacy support services are now available for Tanque Verde Pediatrics patients in Tucson through our dedicated reading specialist.
Personalized sessions support early literacy, phonics, reading fluency, and comprehension in a warm, encouraging environment. Children meet with Miriam for 1:1 instruction that builds skills, confidence, and a love of reading—at their pace, in their way.
Support is available for:
- Early literacy and phonics
- Letter-sound recognition and decoding strategies
- Sight word recognition
- Reading fluency and comprehension
- Written expression and spelling
- 45-minute 1:1 sessions (small group options available upon request)
Specialized sessions may include our reading dog, Saya. Saya is a certified therapy dog through the Alliance of Therapy Dogs. Her calm, friendly presence helps children feel comfortable, supported, and more confident as they grow as readers.

Miriam McGill, Reading Specialist
Miriam holds dual Master’s degrees in Elementary Education and Special Education from the University of Heidelberg, Germany. She has over 25 years of experience supporting children in building strong, confident reading foundations.
Miriam’s sessions are personalized, encouraging, and designed to meet each child where they are—academically and emotionally. She believes that reading progress begins with trust, and she’s known for creating calm, connected spaces where children feel safe, seen, and ready to grow.

Each session is tailored to your child’s abilities, whether beginning their reading journey or working to build fluency and confidence. - Optional visits from Saya, our certified therapy and reading dog, to bring extra comfort to children who enjoy her calm presence
Session Format & Scheduling
- Length: 45 minutes
- Format: Individual (1:1) — small group options available upon request
- Frequency: Typically once a week (flexible based on family needs)
- Location: In-office at Tanque Verde Pediatrics
- Scheduling: Multiple weekday options available
Pricing & Payment
- Individual Reading Session (45 minutes): $75
- Parent Consultation (30 minutes): $50
Parents may schedule with the TVP front desk either in office or by phone. Payment is collected by TVP staff at the time of service. Cancellation Policy: No-shows or late cancellations (less than 24-hour notice) will be charged the full cost of the session.
